My name is Cláudia and I´m 23 years old.
I was born in 13/01/1984 in the island of S.Miguel, Azores. I love living there because it´s very beautiful, almost everthing green, with flowers, lots of touristic places to visit and I love the smell of the sea.
I´m in the 4th year of Social Education and when I finish the course I want to work in Azores, preferentially with children/young people.
Relatively to my person I´m friend of my friends, sympathetic, a little bit shy at first.

I’m a 4th year Social Education student.
I’m Portuguese.My main motivation is about the scope and the panoply of themes that will be approached in the Intensive Program. In my opinion, this program looks into very interesting themes and the participants will have a lot to donate to the program: a multitude of experiences, participation in others seminars and interchange whit other cultures. I think this experience is very rewarding for all of us. I am nervous but expectant and happy for this opportunity!

I’m Filipa and I’ve 22 years old. I’m from Lisbon but I’m living in Salvaterra de Magos.
I’m very excited with the IP, and I think that it will be a great experience for me and for all of us. What can I say about me? Well…I think that I’m a nice person, friend of my friends, I like very much to eat and I’ve always a book to read before I go to bed.
I’m studying to be a Social Educator and another thing that I would like to share whit you is that at this moment of my life I’m a volunteer firewomen in the Humanity Association of Volunteer Fireman of Salvaterra de Magos. It does have been a good experience on personal level; helping people at the same time that I’m practise an active citizenship witch makes me fell realised at this camp.
And I also fell that the values, the principles of been a volunteer firewomen are approach to the principles of Social Education on the perspective of helping the others.




Hi. My name is Tiago Carmona and I’m 21 years old. I am studding Social Education in Santarém, Portugal.
During course I had opportunity to practice in two places: Childhood and youth helping house and a Primary school. In the first case, me and more three mates did an observation practice, when we reflected about some questions inherent to the subject of institutionalized children and young people. At the Primary school we programmed some sessions of animation where we tried to develop some psychosocial competencies in children.
As hobbie I like playing some sports (football, run, swim), make some thinks of graphic design, playing guitar and collaborating an organization of students association.
I wish that this formation will be share and construction place. Maybe, my main challenge will be communicate in English… but also I shall use other communications forms, like gesticulation… See you soon.

I’ve done my training period at JAC (young people recommendation centre). This centre organises shaping services for children and young people.

Joke and I worked together with the service JAC during the project. This is the service where Christophe is doing his training period. It was our task to develop a method which makes sure that this centre is known to the students from the first degree.

Something about my training period…: I’ ve done my training period in a young peolple advice centrum (JAC) in Izegem. This is a centrum where young people can come to ask for information, advise. It is also possible to help young people for a longer time. The centrum does olso preventive work. They go to schools, center for young people,... to give courses abouts manny subjects.
Something about my project…: I’ve done my project in the JAC / Passe-Partout from Oostende. It’s a same kind of organisation as the one i’ve done my training period in. The difference is that this organisation have a own building. The organisation from my training period is in the same building as the department that aims to adults. The organisation in oostende is this year merged with the educationcenter Passe-Partout. Now they are even more specialised in giving courses. In my project we have the task to make Jac / Passe-Partout well-known by the young people.

Something about my training period…: My training period is situated at ‘t Zonnetje (translated: ‘The Little Sun’), a youth work organisation that organises activities for children, teenagers and adults with (and without) disabilities.
Something about my project…: My project was situated in a neighbourhood in Ostend called “De Nieuwe Stad”. (Translation: The New City). With our project we tried to give an impulse to the neighbourhood. We organised a Talent Festival to bring people – Belgian people as well as people with other nationalities – together and to show that we all have (hidden) qualities. Young people, old people, Belgian, English, Russian, Chinese, African, etc… people participated in the project. Nine students from our school organised this festival together with two organisations and people from the neighbourhood. We show the treasure of qualities present in the neighbourhood.

Something about my training period…: My training period implied working in a youth- house. There I work whit a group of volunteers who are the engine of the house. The social worker helps the This youth- house offers the opportunity for young people to express themselves in a safe environment. It also offers a place to meet new people and make new friends. Beside these topics, the youth- house also offers assistance.
Something about my project…: My project also implied working whit young people. In Ostend there is district called “De Nieuwe Stad” translated “The New Town”. In this district a service called ‘Arktos’ works whit young people. My project implied breaking the representation and preconceptions between young and old in the district whit photo material.

I fulfil my training period in a service for common good and youth. My main task is to coach youngsters into the daily action of the youth house. This is a place, chosen by youngsters, where they can participate to meaningful leisure activities. The youth house especially focuses attention on non-organized youth.
Something about my project…:
My project was to work on the quality of life in a neighbourhood in Ostend. A lot of occupants have a wrong idea concerning the exact number of immigrants in the district. This brings tensions with itself. Our purpose was to change this train of thought and to stimulate the consistency between the occupants.

Something about my training period…:
My training period is in ‘Vredeseilanden’. This is an independent, pluralistic non-governmental organisation that works in 15 different country’s all over the world about development cooperation, specialized in food security. I give shaping about this themes in Belgian schools and I help with fundraising projects in Belgium.
Something about my project…:
My project implied that we organized something with/for youth to learn them about the millennium goals and how 11.11.11.(portal of the Coalition of the Flemish North South Movement in Belgium) works. We organized a ‘Millennium goals contest game’ between youth movements in Ostend. There were also music bands, a lecture about the goals and a distribution of prizes for the winners of the game.

Something about my training period…:
During my training period I organized activities for young people between 12 and 25 years oud. The perpose of the activities we organised was to bring some education into the free time they have after school. Most of the kids don’t attend the lessons or don’t speek the language. We try to give them some ready knowledge. Knowing that this is their free time, our activities must be entertaining en fun to participate in. They can bring in their thoughts or wants. We try to create enough space to grow and find themselfs. There for we work somethimes with outher youth organisations so that we can improve our offer.
Something about my project…:
During our project, we tried to reduce the distance between young people and art. So we organized workshops with different subjects during an exposition of young artists. Through the workshops, we asked for their opinions and tried to explain the view of the artist. Especially the contribution of the kids was of interest. In the second part of the workshop we made our own exposition. This way the kids could feel that art is not something far far away from them. They can do it themselves.

Something about my training period…: My training period involved working in a community centre. The centre gives people in the area the chance to meet each other and participate to several activities that the centre organizes. Besides that, the community centre allows people to come eat and have a drink at a low price.
Something about my project…: My project involved the organisation of a play for and together with people wit a handicap. Our actors were between the age of 17 and 70. The project was planned by “ ‘t Zonnetje”. This organisation makes sure youth and people who need special attention get some quality time by organizing activities like daytrips and workshops.

Sandrine is 33 years old. She is currently living in Rennes in Brittany. She is a (very recent) mother of a little boy called Yael. She is in favour of the mixing of cultures and that’s why, maybe, she is practising Breton and African dancing.

Professionally speaking, she is teaching social economics at the Technical Institute (IUT) of Rennes, in the department of Social Work (more precisely of Social and Cultural animation).

In term of international experiences, she has done a lot research on discrimination in South Africa where she has spent one year in 2001. She has also spent 2 months in Australia at the University of Canberra 3 years ago. At last, when she was young (well… younger!), she has also done internships in West Africa, in Mali and Benin.

I’m 35 years old,

I am Pieter – Jan Uyttersprot or more shortly, P.J..
I am a Belgian Youth worker / trainer living in France since a few years, in Bretagne and more specifically in Plélan le Grand.My main job consists in giving training (mostly on European level) to youth workers, social workers, animators, educators on topics like Intercultural learning, Non formal education human rights education, animation, active youth participation and different topics, related to the previous ones.
I represent in this IP the Belgian association “Oelalaa”, a small association based in Halle that works most of the time on intercultural projects, during this IP we will work more specifically on the part of Non Formal Education.
I am also actively engaged in the French association Ratatouille and I am a bureau member of ENOA (European network of Animation).My interests/hobbies: I play music (trumpet, clarinet, tuba, guitar, ...) I like to travel, I like to drink a beer with friends, to enjoy life in general.

French Group Presentation

This year, I’m doing an internship in the association “jeunesse et développement”. I help a group of teenager to take actions to go in Senegal for intercultural exchange, in an aim of international solidarity.

I like : art : visiting museum contemporary art, dancing (not in disco) contemporary dance, and improvising, dance with a very nice boy , Lindy hop, rock’n’roll, ballroom dance (cha-cha, rumba, salsa, passo double, tango,...), answer “dans ton cul” when someone ask Where ! (Dans ton cul = in your bottom), looking someone painting (and not painting because I’m useless).
I like to eat cheese … because I come from Jura, east of France, next Switzerland.
It’s a region called “cheese country”, we find comté (kind of gruyère cheese), cancoillotte, raclette (melted cheese served with boiled potatoes and cold meats) with white wine, yellow wine, absinth…
I don’t like hear tic tac of clocks when I try to sleep, eat fish, when it’s raining…
Hobbies: Nothing … because works, works, works and words. Before coming in IUT, I dance hip-hop, play violin, ski, go to mountain-biking and often see my friends.
internship:
We have to do a two months internship about cultural activities. With two friends, we have chosen to go to Cambodia. We go to an orphanage. Some children have parents but they haven’t got enough money to keep them at home. Children go to the school and they work in touristic hotels. They dance traditional Khmer dance to earn money.
We would like to practise expression corporeal and cultural activities with children. We wait to be in Cambodia for deciding what we will exactly do.
In France, we work with an association (Association Khmer d’Ille et Vilaine). The association gather people of Cambodian origin. We organize two cultural events: one video screening with a discussion about the genocide by “Khmers rouge” and one presentation of the Khmer cultural.
Moreover, we work with Rennes for writing “récits de vie” (stories of life). We meet people of other origin and we ask them about their life. After we write this and it’s published for the school of Rennes.

I will do my internship in Cambodia to work with underprivileged children who live in the street, or work in the dump…I want to do activities about health and hygiene education because in the organisation nothing is being done on this topic and it’s a real need. I want to talk about violence, food, drugs, alcohol and prostitution because those topics are really worrying in this country. My objective is to work more particularly with the teachers so they can continue my project when I come back to France. The difficulty in this action is to adapt the content to Cambodian culture

It seems that I look like a French actress who is called Vanessa Paradis (she is Johnny Deep’s wife).
I have always live in Britain, in the northwest of France, a lovely country.
My favourite food is the couscous which makes my boyfriend’s mother. When you eat that, you cannot live any more without!
I like sport and I do kick boxing during 5 years. I had play football, gymnastic and tennis too. Now, I run every Sunday morning with my mother and my sister. Yes, I’m really a sports girl!
I like a lot of sort of music, I like cinema and party with my entire friend.
I’m very happy to be in the project in Santarem. It could be rich for my practice.
In May, I go to Congo with 2 friends to do a link and an exchange by Internet between teenagers in Rennes and teenagers in Brazzaville about theatre and Congolese’s literature.





My name is Maud, I’m twenty one years old and I’m a girl.
I don’t have a real hobby, I like to eat good things, travel, have party and walk on coast paths.
I really like shrimps and grilled meat.
During my internship we will try to give attractivity to the library of the “space meet youth” of the city of BoBo Dioulasso in BURKINA FASO. In a first time we want to install some animation around the reading, the expression and the book with the users. Next, it could be interesting to organize meeting with writers from Burkina Faso, user and habitant. Finally we will buy some book to feed the library





My name is Wesley. I’m 21 years old. I’m the only boy to come in this meeting in Santarem (of the France).
First, I’m not very tall and I’ve got long hair. I think that I’m funny because I like laughing; I think it’s important to have fun. I like have to party and meet people. During my free time, I play ping pong, badminton, guitar and I make theatre. I like also listening music and watching TV, but I really like doing nothing, it means keep time to be cool without worries.
I’m member of an association who organise activity for young people (11-25 years old) and who follow young people in their project.
I’m enjoying participating at this meeting, because after my formation, I would like to work at International level. The only thing that afraid me is my English because I’m not easy with this language.
At the beginning, my internship was in Morocco but after few problems, it’s not possible. So now, I’m looking for another practice in France. I’m quite sad but it’s the strong reality of life.



Hi! My name is Amélie and I’m 20 years old. I love playing theatre, eating pizza and watching Marilyn Monroe’s films.
My internship will be in Burkina Faso. With another student we want to realize a cultural exchange between French pupils ands African children.
The associations who support the project are OSI (Orphan aids International) in France and AJPO (an association created by young African to take care of orphan whose parents died because of the AIDS and campaign against aids) in Burkina Faso. We want to realize the cultural exchange by using photos. The children will make sort of photo album for their correspondent to present their culture, their friends, what they like or dislike...
I’m very happy to come in Santarem because I enjoy to travel and to discover other cultures. I hope Portuguese’s food is good because I love eating! Oh, I forgot something really important: my favourite colour is pink! Well, I think now you know a lot of things about me... So see you in February.


Hello, I’m Mathilde. I’m 22.
As the others, I’m student.
This year, we prepare an internship abroad and I wish to talk to you about! I will leave in South Africa (So if my English is too bad, please, don’t talk about it!).
There, I will work with an association (Her name is sinethemba Trust) who welcome orphans children and teenagers. To start with, I organize an exchange between them and French children and teenagers.
Then a French sponsor send money for school to children (because in South Africa it’s private school) and others spending. So, my involvement is to grow relationship between them and South African children by different mains as a blog!
So, since I’m not a special human and when I am not occupied by this project, I like to spend time with my friends especially doing rock music with my band ( I’m the singer) . And on the same direction I organise with my association a music festival in September.
When the summer is here, I like to go in music festival and theatre festival too. But, my prefer activity in the summer is the « farniente» (doing nothing)!! ! Do we know Jean de La Fontaine? So, I would prefer to be a cicada but for the moment I’m an ant!

From Lisbon airport, catch a bus heading for the Oriente Station in Lisbon. The bus number is nr. 44 (in the direction of Moscavide), duration: about 7 minutes, fare: 1.30 €. The bus stop is just opposite the airport, when you leave it through international arrivals
